Savory Snack Ideas
With various savory snacks being enjoyed at this time of year, we wanted to share some of our favorite recipes.
Maple-Chili Glazed Mixed Nuts
What you’ll need:
- – ¼ cup of pure maple syrup
- – 1 tablespoon of light brown sugar
- – 1 cinnamon stick
- – 2 whole dried Chiles de árbol
- – Nonstick cooking spray
- – 1 pound of mixed whole nuts of your choosing
How to make it:
- – Combine the maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon stick, and Chiles de árbol in a small saucepan. Bring this to a boil over high heat, stir until the sugar is dissolved, and then remove from the heat and cover. Let this steep at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. Discard the cinnamon stick and Chiles de árbol before the next step.
- – Preheat the oven to 360 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray nonstick cooking spray lightly on a baking sheet or line the sheet with a silicone baking mat.
- – Empty the nuts into a large bowl and add the syrup mixture, stirring with a rubber spatula until all the nuts are coated. Once they are all coated, spread them out evenly across the baking sheet.
- – Bake for a few minutes, and then toss the nuts. Do this a few times for a total of about 12 minutes until they are golden brown and fragrant. Once done, remove from the oven and let cool before serving or store them in an airtight container in a darker place for up to 5 days.
Everything Pig-In-A-Blanket With Cranberry Mustard
What you’ll need:
Everything seasoning (makes 1 ½ cups)
- – 4 tablespoons of white sesame seeds
- – 4 tablespoons of black sesame seeds
- – 4 tablespoons of poppy seeds
- – 2 tablespoons of kosher salt
- – 4 tablespoons of fennel seeds
- – 3 tablespoons of dried garlic flakes
- – 3 tablespoons of dried onion flakes
Cranberry mustard (makes 4 cups)
- – 3 cups of fresh or frozen cranberries
- – ½ sugar
- – 1 shallot, chopped
- – ¼ cup of Dijon mustard
- – ¼ cup of whole-grain mustard
- – 1 teaspoon of malt vinegar
- – 1 orange, zested and juiced
- – ¼ teaspoon 2 whole star anise
- – 1 small piece of fresh ginger, peeled (about 2-inch piece)
- – 1 tablespoon of kosher salt
Pigs-In-A-Blanket
- – 4 large all-beef hot dogs
- – 1 ½ cups of everything seasoning
- – 1 ½ sheets of puff pastry
- – 2 eggs, beaten
How to make it:

- – Combine all Ingredients
Cranberry mustard
- – Place all ingredients in a 2-quart heavy-bottom saucepan.
- – Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes at medium heat.
- – Stir often and crush the cranberries as they soften. It should look like it has a chunky relish texture.
- C- ool to room temperature, and remove the star anise.
Pigs-In-A-Blanket
- – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- – Cut hot dogs into quarters.
- – Pour everything seasoning into a shallow bowl or plate.
- – Cut the puff pastry into strips narrower than the hot dogs. Lay out the strips and brush them with the beaten egg.
- – Roll each section of hot dog into individual strips of puff pastry and brush the outside of each roll with the beaten egg.
- – Roll each into the everything spice and place on a sheet pan. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until the pastry has been browned.
Big Festive Holiday Dip
What you’ll need:
- – Nonstick cooking spray
- – 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
- – 8 ounces of cream cheese, softened
- – 1 cup of cheddar cheese
- – 1 bunch of green onions, chopped
- – 12 ritz crackers or Prime Planet tostones, crushed, plus more for serving
- – 8 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- – ½ cup of pepper jelly
- – 1 tablespoon of water
How to make it:
- – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- – Mix mayonnaise, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and green onions into a bowl. Then transfer this mixture to a prepared pie pan and top with the crushed ritz crackers.
- – Bake for 15 minutes.
- – In a small saucepan, mix pepper jelly and water. Cook over low heat until the jelly has melted.
- – Remove the dip from the oven, top with bacon crumbles, and drizzle pepper jelly on top.
- – Serve with Ritz crackers or our flavorful tostones.
