Savory Snack Ideas

With various savory snacks being enjoyed at this time of year, we wanted to share some of our favorite recipes.

Maple-Chili Glazed Mixed Nuts

What you’ll need:

  • – ¼ cup of pure maple syrup
  • – 1 tablespoon of light brown sugar
  • – 1 cinnamon stick
  • – 2 whole dried Chiles de árbol
  • – Nonstick cooking spray
  • – 1 pound of mixed whole nuts of your choosing

How to make it:

  1. – Combine the maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon stick, and Chiles de árbol in a small saucepan. Bring this to a boil over high heat, stir until the sugar is dissolved, and then remove from the heat and cover. Let this steep at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. Discard the cinnamon stick and Chiles de árbol before the next step.
  2. – Preheat the oven to 360 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray nonstick cooking spray lightly on a baking sheet or line the sheet with a silicone baking mat.
  3. – Empty the nuts into a large bowl and add the syrup mixture, stirring with a rubber spatula until all the nuts are coated. Once they are all coated, spread them out evenly across the baking sheet.
  4. – Bake for a few minutes, and then toss the nuts. Do this a few times for a total of about 12 minutes until they are golden brown and fragrant. Once done, remove from the oven and let cool before serving or store them in an airtight container in a darker place for up to 5 days.
